The words that no parent ever wants to hear. “I have a drug addiction problem.”
This is the story of my son, Tristan, through my eyes, and his hellish battle with his drug addiction and his journey to recovery.
Through manipulation, deceit, threats of suicide and severe financial worries, this book documents the life of a mother living with a drug-addicted son.
In hindsight, the signs were there but awareness always has the vision we don’t have at the time. There were life changes, pressures in his landscaping business, unpaid bills and wages, a new girlfriend and unexplained body ailments.
For me and my husband, Johan, the timing was particularly bad as we had saved for a once in a lifetime trip to Rome. To make matters worse, with much of my holiday savings spent bailing out Tristan, my promised bonus wasn’t forthcoming. Find out how to survive in Rome on the most threadbare shoestring budget and all the free attractions you are able to explore and enjoy in the Eternal City.

I thought of my son who I last saw as his wrists were cable tied and he was bundled, sobbing, and yelling “Mom, Mom, Mom” into a car and taken away.

My book is not intended to be anywhere near a “when all else fails read the manual book” let alone anything remotely resembling a guide on how to survive life when your loved one is battling with the disease of addiction.
This is the story of my gorgeous son, Tristan through my eyes with a contribution from him. His hellish battle with his drug addiction and his journey to recovery.
